Dr Charles Landau
Charles was educated at University College London and completed his MA through London University.
Charles is a notable historian and “an outstanding and passionate public speaker”, attracting large audiences who are enthralled with his presentations. He is a favourite at many learning centres and has a large following. As an outstanding public speaker, Charles has enlightened thousands of people here and abroad. He has a passion for history, Jewish history and comparative religion.
He has lectured in the House of Commons and for the Chaplain to the Speaker, in universities synagogues, churches, LJCC, Jews' College, LSJS, Spiro Ark, Spiro, Aish and Seed.
He has been a Scholar-in Residence on European Passover schemes.
Today he regularly lectures for Lockdown University. This huge international educational forum allows Charles to teach people around the world from all over the United States to South America, South Africa, Europe, Israel and Britain.
Inspired by early mornings he teaches weekly on his History Half Hour Zoom, bite sized wonders of history.
He is a tour leader, having led groups to Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Germany, Austria, Czech, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Morocco, Spain, Portugal, France, Turkey, Greece, Sweden Poland and Hungary. Around Britain past locations include York, Lincoln, Canterbury, Rochester, Norwich and Tudeley. He was one of the experts involved in the making of a programme on the history of York. He writes for newspapers and journals, is a TV contributor, and an advisor on plays.
Within the Jewish world he gives ‘shiurim’ (talks) on prayer and other topics. He has lectured on nearly all aspects and all areas of Jewish history and culture. He has run courses on Jewish film and literature. In the sphere of comparative religion, he has taught courses and written on Christianity, the Gospels and the Church, Islam, the Koran and “commonalities and conflicts between the faiths."
Married with 2 daughters. He is a dentist by profession, and his wife is a doctor.
